So guys, it's time for my Tom to go. He was technically go before xmas, but I managed to keep him around a bit longer. Husband says he and 6 other birds got to go. (He doesnt like the size of 21 birds lol)

What is the best way to butcher and pluck a full grown Tom? I do not have an automatic plucker.

I shoot them in the head with a .22. Wait for the tom to quiet down and use a hatchet to remove its head. I scald with 160°F water and hand pluck.

You can find more methods in the Meat Birds ETC forum.
