Since we've hatched out poults, now 2 months old, Tom has gotten more aggressive. Before we had poults he was fine I could touch him and he'd be kinda scared or content with it, now if I get too close he might peck or jump kick, and tries to charge when I turn my back. It's not that bad since it's easy to keep him at bay when facing him sometimes having to use a stick or nudge him back with my boots. I was just wondering if it's normal for them to be protective around poults, and if this will escalate or come back down afterwards. I know hens usually get cranky and more aggressive when broody, although my hen is a sweetheart, never pecked and even let me pet her when she was on her eggs.

On the other hand he's a great dad with the poults, he will even sit with them with his wings over them like mom does.
