So i pull in my drive way about 20 minutes ago and saw a huge wild tom outside my turkeys pen. At first I thought "oh cool, my turkeys are driving in wild turkeys"...until I saw the damage. The turkey quickly scattered off into the brush, I looked in the pen and there was blood drops all over the ground. Upon further investigation I noticed blood on the fencing about 4 feet high and dents all over. I'm concerned about what'll happen if a wild tom grows enough courage to fly into the pen..death will surely find its way to my Tommy boy..as he has no spurs. :( there was blood outside the pen as well, as if the wild tom had been injured as well. Maybe from mine peeking at him..I don't know. But now my Tommy is bleeding from his foot...an injury I'm sure he sustained from protecting his 3 female hens. Anyone have this happen and if so what was the result? Is there anything I can do?

I have the same thing happen with wild turkeys. The fights between my free range tom's and wild tom's are always much less bloody and are way shorter than when they are fence fighting. Alot more strutting, gobbling and showing off than real fighting. Seems the fence just makes everyone angrier and does it's own share of damage. Not much you can do but chase away the wild tom's when you see them.

i know this is a serious blow to you and am very sorry to hear of your misfotune

home your tom gets better soon

give em some antiseptic cleaning and patch him up should heal up fine

i will say you guys is USA see most animals like coons cayotes etc as pests which is understandable

here in UK we wish we saw more wild animals

we dont have any wild turkey or peafowl and it really does make a garden look bare

So they dont fight til death?
No, but some roosters do. Most toms grab each other's snood or wattle and wrestle back and forth until one gives way to the other. They try to test each other's strength more than seriously harm one another. Sometimes fights get serious if they are evenly matched, but death is extremely rare.
