So sorry. So, were there any developed chicks at all, or were they all just full of rotten gunk? If the latter they may not have been fertile at all. How disappointing!

I'm so sorry, Chook. I read where you said Mom said no to buying chicks, but why will you have to wait until next year? Surely you'll get more fertile eggs by then and have a broody willing to hatch them within the year, don't you think?

Youngchooklover, do you know how to crack a just hatched egg to make sure that it is fertilized? a chicken's eggs can be fertilized for up to 2 weeks just from one breeding session so it is good to assume that if you crack an egg and see that it is fertilized, then the next one hatched will be as well.

crack the egg open and if the yolk has a small white dot in it, it is fertilized.
