It would help to post pictures. If there is a wound it is not likely due to a bee sting. We’re thinking possibly a bumble bee sting. Was wondering if we should start him on Penicillin with Procaine?
ound probably wasn’t the best choice of word. Sorry. I couldn’t think of another word at the time. He has a small puncture. The swelling, bright red and hot to the touch has me concerned. Was just wondering if penicillin should be started to try to curb the infection. It would help to post pictures. If there is a wound it is not likely due to a bee sting.

If it is a swelling due to an allergic reaction such as would happen from a bee sting, it is not an infection and should not be treated as an infection.Wound probably wasn’t the best choice of word. Thank ya very much! I posted 2 pics. I don’t know if it’s a bumble bee sting for sure. But ya answered what my concern was and I really appreciate it.If it is a swelling due to an allergic reaction such as would happen from a bee sting, it is not an infection and should not be treated as an infection.
The area is bright red and hot due to the amount of blood engorging the vessels there. Years ago, I used to make a baking soda paste to put on bee stings that I had gotten. It seemed to help for me.
Pictures would help.
You want to feel that swelling. If it feels solid, it may be some type of sting. My opinion is that it will feel like it is full of air. If that is the case, it needs to be lanced so the air can escape. It isn't common but it also isn't rare for a tom to develop air leakage into that area with some having their whole head swell up like a balloon.Thank ya very much! I posted 2 pics. It is air! When Hubby put pressure on it he could hear air escape and got it down some. I’m assuming it came out of the puncture? Thank ya so much! I have never heard of this until now!
