AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH! I moved the babies into one of the barn stalls when they got too big for the water tub they were living in. Now a horse needs it back. They're too small to put in with the big girls. HELP!
My suggestion would be to build a Junior pen. Perhaps you can section off a corner in the barn for them.
I myself like allowing them to get outside some when they are big enough so my personal vote is a pen just for them. It does not need to be fancy just functional since you will be integrating them in the future.
I agree - build a very simple frame (wired of course) somewhere in the barn. Or stop by a home improvement store and see if they have a fridge or stove box available....
i raise mine the exact same way , and when horse needs a stall i simply square off a corner with some chicken wire and then keep there food and water in there with short roost and i cut several small holes in the wire big enough for the chicks to crawl under with plenty of room , it helps the chicks get acclimated to the flock but still have a place to run and hide if they need to , dont add the holes until they have been in the new smaller cage in the coop for about a week so they no it is there home , i have also used the same method to feed chicks separate from the flock , i hope this helps
Too far away for me to come help move the hay. Don't beat yourself up for not thinking of it. Sometimes the simplest answer is the right answer. It is also hard to see it when we over think the issue.
