Too big?

Oops sorry, the width is 3-4 foot

Hmm, I'd really urge you to make it wider if possible. Overall sq footage is only part of the equation, a narrow run can still cause space issues as it doesn't allow lower ranked birds to properly give space to higher ranked birds.

Even if I let them free range everyday?

1-2 hrs free range doesn't make up for issues arising in the run, as they'll be in the run more often than not.

If you flip that so you're free ranging most of the time, with 1-2 hrs locked in run, then I wouldn't worry about it.

Should add as well, if 4' is all you have to work with due to space constraints, then you'll have to make do - but be aware that if issues pop up, that that could be one reason behind it.

Yeah, and I'd rethink your run size regardless. If it's only 3-4 by wide, you're only talking 48-64 sq ft. You might be ok having bantams, but that's pushing it. My birds have 4x that space, and I'm still planning on making it larger. And I free range for 4-5 hours a day.

If that's the most space you can devote to them, I totally understand. Just don't get any more chickens.

So 5ft in width is better? I can’t go wider than thet

If that's as wide as you can fit, then I'd do that. Adding clutter to the run will also help in breaking up the space, but just make sure you don't get too crazy with clutter as it does also eat up floor space.

Did you decide on a bigger coop? I think you are going to have a bad time if you put them in a too small coop and also a small run. Chickens will kill eachother if they dont have enough space.
