Too big?

Ok so now I’m in two minds!
I found this coop which looks much bigger than Eglu coop. It has two separate nesting area...

then planning to get one of these to fit it in...pic attached... what do you all think?”

The run is certainly a better size, not sure how you're calculating the coop size as "much bigger". The large Eglu is 100 cm x 94 cm, this is 100 cm x 141 cm. Take away the nest boxes in this chicken lodge and the actual interior space is 7280 cm sq, or 7.8 sq ft. Calculating at 4 sq ft per large bird you're looking at 1 orp + 2 bantams, max. You really should be shopping for (or planning on building) a coop with double that amount of floor space.

I agree. Honestly, I would either buy a shed and modify or build.

Me, too! You can always buy sexed chicks. When I bought straight run chicks, I made sure I had a plan for roosters beforehand. There are too many unwanted roos out there. It's sad. And a little angering.

It is a little sad but it's also how nature works. If you want to keep hens, you can't keep an unlimited number of boys with them. They will hurt the hens and each other. At least when you are raising animals yourself you can select for more desirable qualities, like roosters who are vigilant, and kind to the hens, loyal to their humans, etc. Death isn't the worst thing that can happen to animal anyway.

There's no such thing as too big for chickens. Well not for mine anyway. They love to roam. Get the biggest thing you can so you don't have to work to make it bigger later.*

*Speaking from experience. I had a 20'x30' run for around 20 birds. I ended up building an extra run to make it bigger, and then another one. It looked ridiculous, and even with all my runs my chickens still roamed free most of the day. I ended up taking everything down and just making a better fence around my whole back area. Unfortunately they are pretty good at escaping so now I'm replanning a new enclosed area.

I agree, but if it's a case of not being able to keep them because of zoning ordinances, the problem is avoidable. And a little planning ahead isn't unreasonable.
