My ducks live in an old house with foam matting in there for a bit on insulation, up untill a few days ago I was cleaning out their room every day and giving fresh shavings, that was untill I went in and found frozen poop, I cleaned out what I could but in the end I just added more shavings on top, so I will see how it goes but I dont want to be layering it up like most people do with outdoor pens....but them again maybe I will have to layer it somewhat, just for added warmth. When I open their door in the morning, for a split second you get a warmer breeze that soon escapes out the door, so I know they are generating heat in there.
