Roo or Hen?
After a dog killed most of my laying flock I found my last blue egg in the brush under the trees, she must have laid it right before the dog got her
I took the egg straight into the house and plopped it into the incubator. 3 weeks later this little ball of black fluff popped out. I have 2 roos, one is a pure silkie, the other is a silkie cochin cross. Either way you can see a bit of silkie in the gene-pool. Her mother was a strain of chickens that a vet was developing, she called them hearty Alaska chickens, and the parent stock was part Auracaunas (sp) hence the lovely powder blue colored eggs.
I call this chick Bluey, cause it came out of a blue egg
And I'm hoping she's a girl cause she's just too cute to be a boy
What do you think?
