It's been really dry here this past month and it wasn't until today that I realized that our 8 week old chicks have never seen rain!

So it started to rain and I watched to see what they would do. They hid in the forsythia, which offered lots of protection, but they wouldn't come anywhere near the coop!

Are they too dumb to come in out of the rain ----- or am I too stupid to see that they did?

What if they get wet?

Call me worried Mom

The big chickens didn't go anywhere either........

Our flock 6 weeks up to 2+ years also hides under the forsythia and other bushes when it rains.

If it starts to rains too hard, they head for the barn, the covered front porch or under a car.

I think they should be okay. I usually chase them indoors if there is lightening.

I have chickens that go in the coop, chickens that forage in the rain and chickens that retreat under bushes (when free ranging).

As long as it is not cold I would not worry about them getting wet.
