Too Early for Feb Hatch-A-Long Thread??

Hey all. I'm a bit late to the party. I've read most of the posts and loved all the pics.

I have 7 duck eggs in the incubator on day 21. They will be a cross of muscovy father and pekin mothers, so mules. I saw someone mention that they wanted to hatch mules. I've read with a muscovy as the drake, none of the ducklings will lay eggs or be fertile. They will be raised for meat. That's the plan anyway. So far they are doing well. I think they supposed to hatch on the 32nd day. This is my first time hatching these.

I would like to get one to use as a hatcher. Right now I have a Brinsea mini, maxi and an ovation 28. Theoretically, I could move up to 20 from the ovation to hatch in the maxi, and I actually use the mini a lot for fertility checks or just small runs. The pitas are my first incubation in the ovation, so cross fingers with me!!!

Apart from 6 of them which come from a breeder that breeds USA standard Silkies. Mine are British standard.

Oh yay another Silkie hatcher! What colours do you expect to hatch/when are they due?

I only have 10 in the incubator for this round, due to hatch on 2/18. There will be a chance for paint, blue splash, paint partridge, partridge, and blue. These are some of the parent flocks.

Ahh so pretty! Fingers crossed all 10 hatch, you can never have too many little fluffs!

Thanks! I'm hopeful! On the last candle all 10 were developing!

I just deleted the pictures of the parent flock because I realized it showed the breeders full name, lol, oops!

That’s great news! I love when you candle and the whole batch are developing.

I don’t think all of mine will be fertile this round. The Male has been kinda slow in doing his job. When I cracked the eggs to check fertility. Some were fertile and some were not. I couldn’t separate to see who was laying fertile ones or not so I’ve just had to collect and go! I’ll be happy if half are fertile.

The only thing better than a 100% fertility rate is a 100% hatch rate! So I hope all of your fertilized eggs hatch for you!!
