Too Early for Feb Hatch-A-Long Thread??

Hello! Looking forward to firing up the incubator next Tuesday! I’m going to be hatching Black and Blue Copper Marans, F1 OE, and F2 OE all from my own flock. I’m also getting a dozen Icelandic eggs from someone local.

It should be a fun hatch with the OE. Chicken genetics are so tricky!
My F1 will be BCM cockerel over EE hen(blue layer) EE hen(EExLegbar), and my F2 OE will be Marans over OE(Legbar x Marans). I’m hoping for 75%F1 to lay green and 50% of F2. Sound right?

I think that’ll depend on if you’re EEs both have 1 or 2 blue egg genes. If they only have 1 they’ll pass it on to 50% of their offspring (some of which could be roosters) so it’s hard to say how many will lay Olive.
Excited to see your babies!! I’m hatching a bunch of Olive eggers too. 13 F1 eggs and 3 F2-4 eggs!

My EE hen is the mom to the other EE. She was bred with a cream Legbar cockerel, so I think her offspring should carry 2 blue if she lays blue?
Fall or next spring I plan on having a little fun and crossing some F1 with F1/2 to see what egg colors I get!

I’m too new to genetics to call it! Haha. I love some of the colors I’ve seen from the F2 generations! Even if they aren’t Olive they are often so pretty!

Would y’all set this egg? It’s dirty and I can’t get the poop off without washing which I don’t plan on doing. It has the best air cell of the group but of course is dirty.

Eggs have arrived! Well they were picked up at the post office.

Big problem... they sent way more than expected. Was supposed to get 15 to 20. Ended up with 30. No complaints, but have no room :/ have some deciding and calculating to do tonight. Lots more of the Isbars and Flower Hens. Couple Cemanis. :)

Ooh 3 of my favorite breeds!!!!

I'd spray it with peroxide and water from a spray bottle it's a 50% amount of each. I learned this from someone who is very good at hatching eggs and getting good hatch rates.
