a mal- position can hatch on their own, just remember the first pip is both internal and external so it could take longer than a chick that you do not see the internal pip just the external one. there is a whole thread on here about hands on hatching... some folks will help and do an assisted hatch and others feel that if it can not get out on its own then it is not strong enough to be in their flock. every person has to decide what their comfort level is. I feel that if it made it that far I created a artificial environment by placing the egg in the incubator so I will help to an extent. best of luck and do not rush it
