That's a normal response, lol. I still get nervous when I see it, but if it makes you feel better I had a chick pip through a blood vessel but it was during the internal pip, not the external pip so I didn't even know it happened. The chick popped out like nothing had gone wrong but I looked at the inside of the shell and it was black from all the dried blood. That's the only time I've seen a pip bleed that much though, it's really uncommon and in his case, he was still unfazed.

He will soon!

Baby 2 is here! It’s the one that pipped through the blood vessel. So so cute. It’s supposed to be a white Ameraucana but almost has black tips on its wet down..thoughts?

so much can change between what their down looks like when it is wet and what they look like dry and fluffy! don't get too excited yet

Ok makes me nervous. Hope it’s ok in there.
That's understandable. I agree it's pipped through a blood vessel. There is a high likelihood it'll hatch on its own just fine. That said keep a close eye on it. It needs as much time in the shell as it can get to finish absorbing the rest of the blood and yolk.

Yay!! Way to go little one! Genetics can be interesting sometimes, my hatch with Light Brahmas is probably the best example. All three chicks are Light Brahmas, no the dark one isn't a Dark Brahma, they all grew out white feathers with black markings and were difficult to differentiate once they grew up. This was because the person I got the Light Brahma hatching eggs from had two different blood lines. I'm not much help as to the "why" of this, I can only say that it's possible she's still a solid White Ameraucana.

Oh my gosh look at those little cuties. 😍 Amazing how different their baby down can be and then they end up looking alike. I have 2 Easter Egger pullets that are almost identical now, but one was a super super dark chipmunk and the other was super light. 🤷🏼‍♀️
I’ve never had white babies before so this is new for me.

I didn’t expect that one to hatch so quickly. There are 3 others that pipped before it and still haven’t started zipping.

So I still have three that haven't hatched our pipped. How long should I leave them in the incubator? Their day 21 was yesterday.
Oh and the new babiesView attachment 2019306

Aww! So many little peeps! How many hatched total? Chicks can hatch days late when there are cold spots in the incubator but since all of the actively hatching chicks are out, I would try to candle the eggs that are left to see if you can see an internal pip or movement. You can also listen to the egg for tapping or scratching sounds, or lightly tapping it to see if the chick chirps.
