Too Early for Feb Hatch-A-Long Thread??

I’m planning my very first hatch!!!! I’m ordering a Nurture Right 360 today and some hatching eggs off of eBay. I probably won’t get them until the 10th or 11th of this month. I’m ordering from a couple different sellers which is probably a bad idea but they both agreed to ship on the same date so I’m crossing my fingers. I imagine I’ll set the eggs on the 13th or so. They will be early Feb. babies!

What are you hatching next month?
i have a batch of ameraucauas and Rhode Island reds that are 11 days in. I also have a batch of Easter eggers that are 5 days in. First time hatching chicks with out a mama. So far so good. I’m anxious to see how it goes. It may become a new addiction

I live in Wisconsin and have my incubator and initial (6week) brooder coop in my house. My first hatchlings came one New Years and the next batch on Jan 27. They’re all doing great. My New Years chicks go to the chicken house Friday where I have a secondary / introduction brooding coop. This works out great for them. They will be 7 weeks old when they go out and fully feathered. My hen house is heated for the winter too so I keep it at a steady 55 F. By doing this I find my hens and pullets are less stressed.

I don’t know what state you’re in but having chicks in the middle of winter is completely doable. Just have to keep a close eye on the temp for the first few weeks.
Hello fellow Wisconsinite!! People think I’m crazy for hatching this time of year. They are upstart for a couple weeks and then I brood in the basement until the temps warm enough.

The egg I set 2 days late, the 1st egg from the pullet I was waiting for, has a pip!!

This egg cane from the pullet Ihad to assist hatch in June. I thought for sure I’d lose her, but she’s a big gorgeous BCM. Her eggs are more stunning than her! They’ve been up to a 7on the color chart and a beautiful red undertone.
I also have another one of her eggs (I set 2 others with it, that were clear) set to hatch Tuesday.

When the females we had made noise it was very quiet. If you weren't paying attention you would miss it. They made the most noise when they were sitting on eggs or taking care of babies.
That's probably why I don't hear it because the Pekins are such loudmouths that I wouldn't be able to hear her over them 😂 the drake Pekin tries so hard to be heard, but Drake's sound like 100 yearold smokers.

I forgot to set up my incubator for the duck eggs so I'm doing it now because we have 34 eggs coming here tonight!

The egg all the way in the back is working on trying to zip. He's made the hole bigger. I had to reach in and flip the two pipped eggs the chick flipped the eggs over so they were laying on their airholes. Hoping I didn't shrink wrap them trying to save them.
