Too early for molting, what is happening?! (Pictures)

That makes me feel better! Oh, I just meant that they’re 9-10 months old so I wasn’t sure if they molt this soon. I always thought this wouldn’t happen until at least 16 months. I figured maybe the fall next year.

Both my Barnvelders are loosing feathers like your photo and I too thought they weren’t supposed to molt until at least 16months. None of the other breeds are doing this and they are all 9 months old. I’ve been scouring trying to figure out what’s wrong with them! So I guess we just have “special” hens
