Hello all!!

Back in april we got 2 buff orps, 4 australorps and 2 barred rocks (one nicknamed Mary Poppins cause she always flies to my shoulder when I get into the coop).

We got some much education from this website (thanks so much everybody!).

Today was a special day. After hearing the egg laying song for a couple of week, and one of them squatting for a few days, we got our first egg! It look so clean and cool!

As a matter of fact, I first thought it was one of the ceramic eggs we got there for training - it was that perfect! Only when I tapped it on the wood I realized it was our very first egg!

Its amazing how our babies grown up. We ate it. So delicious!

Well congrats on that first egg!! That IS egg-citing! I would bet you couldn't WAIT to fry up that egg! How did it taste?

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. It's always exciting getting that first egg. You have a good group of dual purpose breeds; hardy, calm, & good layers of large, brown eggs.
