Too funny to not tell you...

HOLY SMOKES! Poor little girl! Was she like that as a tiny chick? (Edwina Scissor Beak-Edward Scissor Hands...laughing to myself at dorky thought)

She does look like she is a really sweet bird, good luck with her and let us know what happens! I hope you can find someone to trim it so she can eat. Since that seems to be their favorite hobby and the fact that she is getting picked on a bit...

We had a Roo like that several years ago. We called him, "Lucky Lisp." My DH loved that Roo, he fed him by hand every day. He trimmed the beak himself with some nail trimmers we had for our dog. It worked great, and he was finally able to eat from the regular trough. It did bleed a bit, but we used the same stuff we had for the tip of the dog's nails if you ever trim it too close. We got it from the vet. It's a white powder, can't remember the name. Lucky's beak wasn't as extreme as yours though, so I am not sure you'll be able to trim that beak short enough. Good luck though! She is a pretty girl.

I to have an EE with a cross beak. She does fine with no problems. We don't mix her any special feed. She does seem to be eating all day but I am sure it is because it is hard for her to get much food at a time. She does best with deep feed. She will eat out of feed bags & buckets any chance she gets. We put an upside down flower pot next to the feeder & she eats out of the top since the food is deep enough for her to scoop. Lots of feed ends up on the ground but I don't mind. She is my daughters favorite chick. Follows her all over the place and jumps on your shoulder as soon as you walk in the coop. I think she will live a long happy life. Every few days we wash her beak put real well. Sometimes she cleans it well enough but when she has bunches of crumbles in it I just give her a drink from a water bottle & it helps rinse the extra stuff out.
