TOO HOT/day 19/broody on eggs/they're HATCHING!/pics added

Good luck, good luck. I hope they hatch soon. I've been worried about my chicks/almost hens and they're not even laying on eggs like yours are. My outdoor thermometer is still reading 99 degrees and it's already 6:00p.m. I hope the weather cools off soon.

I'll be checking this thread to see how things turn out for you.

Thanks for the support.

I'm really lucky that she's been a good broody so far, and that she's still sweet and tame. By moving her crate into the garage I'll hopefully be able to take pictures if/when anything happens. It's been interesting to see the positions she's contorted herself into in an effort to keep the eggs at the right temp. Sometimes she hovers, sometimes she stretches her neck out really long, and my husband found her sleeping with her head and beak tucked under an egg. Of course I had to cluck at her to see if she was still alive, and she is

Now I'm going to offer her some water and take some pictures, then I promise I'll leave her alone

Last year I had a broody hen setting for 1 week when our temps turned hot and were between 104 and 106 for 2 weeks straight. I just knew the eggs were gone. She was in the nest box in the house and it was HOT. I noticed that she did not sit tight on the eggs, but kind of lifted up,exposing the eggs to the air. She hatched 2 chicks, which I thought was amazing. I hope your broody has good luck.

I am very happy to say that we have four pips this morning, and I can hear all of them through the shell. One is very close to pipping and one hasn't had any activity at all. Not bad, so far...

Today we went to see Wicked at the Pantages theater - WOW was that good! Of course we couldn't wait to get home to see what was up with the eggbies. I rushed inside and sure enough, there's a little fuzzy in with mama! It's very cute and very strong, seeing as how I dropped it already  It's a little partridge something or other.

Then my parents came over to see the eggs and I picked up the hen and found another shell, and you know what that means! I had to look around for the little baby but I found it. Black with a white belly, barely starting to dry. OMG I forgot how cute baby chicks are!

Three more have pips and one is still cold, the same one that was cold yesterday, so I don't expect much from that one.

YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!

I forgot to add that the names for these guys will be Elphaba and Galinda in honor of Wicked
