I ordered 4 black Muscovy from Cali Metzer last July 17, 2023, from Alabama. My concern was our illustrious post-lady wanted to bring 'em in at 7:30am into her 73-degree air conditioning. I talked to her about ducklings needing warmth. She offered to leave 'em on her dock that Thurs am. It was about 80 to 85 degrees when I picked 'em up at 8 am. They were definitely less stressed than when the previous ducklings arrived and she brought 'em inside to the A.C.
If I may suggest; 1 talk to postal folks 2 days beforehand, usually Tues., get them looking forward to cute little ducklings coming in! 2 Get their ph#. Call to remind Wed afternoon, let 'em sense your concern. 3 drive to post office and arrive before opening or as early as they OK you to be there. 4 put your seat warmer on as you arrive so duckling box will sit on a warm spot for the ride home. 5 open your duckling box at the counter to check 'em and let the postal people see that they have a wonderful and important role in those baby ducks safety.
Avoid a heat wave as I believe Metzer Farms would do. Place your order.
