I have electricity but no easy access to pressurized water so I was thinking about putting a small evaporative cooler in my coop, Not sure how well this will work or not, I lost 2 birds last summer to this N. Texas heat, the large chunks of ice is something I can try as well

What kind of evaporative cooler works without electricity?
Is it humid or arid in your area?

I do have electricity, late spring/early summer is fairly humid but mid summer brings dry heat, the cooler has a reservoir

Oh, Sorry...I mis-read your post about the electricity.
Anyway those coolers can add to humidity...not offering relief long term.
Look at

a dose of Sav-a-Chick electrolytes/vitamins

too.
