Too hot

I let the Ducks out this morning and didn't do my daily head count did all my jobs then went to collect the eggs opened the house n was a dead duck in the house it really upset me that one of my babies has gone I think the heat must of got to her last night

That happened to me with one of my first ducks. How hot has it been in their house at night? Ducks are actually pretty hardy so it may not have been the heat. You can always put jugs of frozen water in at night to help lower temps if it is that hot. I use empty milk jugs that I fill about 3/4 full of water and freeze. I do this for all my birds in the heat of the summer which often stays in the 90+ range at night in the summers here in West Texas and it really does help.

As for the one that died there is probably nothing you could have done. If the others are fine then it was either something genetic or she either ate or got bit by something that was poisonous.
