I have seen this once before from a chicken a year or so ago. We lost her from a prolapse which led to the other chickens killing her. I have since learned from those mistakes but am now faced with a young hen just starting to lay massive sized eggs. I have read through the forums and found some help but I am afraid I am running out of time to fix the issue. Any advise is appreciated on getting the egg size down quickly. She is an australorp hen just lay her first 3 eggs. We had a harsh winter and lost 80% of our flock so her weight has been my primary concern over the past month and she gained just fine. I am out of ideas. I would hate to have to put her down but its better than what she will have to go through if I am unable to fix it. Thanks again for any help.

The larger egg on the left is from my hen in question. The middle is from another healthy Australorp hen and the smaller on the far right is my little silkie hen. All 3 were collected this morning.

When my hens started laying one of them gave me a double yolker a week if not two. At first I thought it was a good sign but it wasn't. Luckily as the months went on the double yolker lessened and now I haven't seen one in months. I hope someone can give more insight to your situation :)

The last 3 eggs have been just as big. The one from yesterday was super long and bumpy which happened with the last chicken that I lost. :(
