Too late with instaling 23 gauge hardware cloth?

Hi all,

I bought the 1/4" hardware mesh - 23 gauge. The did not have the 19 I was looking for and we had a gift card to Home Depot, so we just bought it. My husband already put it on the windows. Is this stuff considered too weak to withhold racoons? I really don't want to have to take it all down, but will if it means safety issues to my chickens.

I updated it. I am in Illinois. My husband drilled screws around the edges on the windows. For the barn door he put wood around the edges of the cloth and screwed that down.

This sounds really good. I think the important thing is keeping them from grabbing a corner and pulling it loose.
