Too many chicks... how do I choose?!?

I think I would keep them. Maybe you could keep a few extra hens and keep the 2 roos you really like. I ordered some blue lace wyandottes but I had to order them straight run. If you don't want to butcher them then I would try to sell them while they are young. All your chicks are so pretty.

I have 31 hens and 3 roos. The roos do very little fighting, though there is definitely a pecking order between them. The bantam cochin, Lloyd, is the boss of the yard, and won't let the polish in the hen house or be with the girls if he's near. The polish roo, Geronimo, has to be the last to go to bed at night, after the cochin has his place on the roost. The silkie roo, Leroy, just wanders around and does his thing, but occasionally the cochin chases him away from a girl. Otherwise, everything is great. It is really quite peaceful, and even funny to watch big ol' Geronimo being chased away by little Lloyd. They didn't even grow up together. We had Geronimo first, and got Leroy last. There is never any blood or spurring or real fighting.

So keep who you want to keep, and if it doesn't work out, re-home or eat the other roosters. Eat the mean ones!

Good luck deciding on the pullets. I'd keep them all. You can't ever have too many, right?

I'm in the same boat. I only wanted 6 chickens and now I have 27 chicks. I'll get rid of all the roo's but after that it's going to be hard to get it down to at least 10.
