Too many eggs

jackiedon - what kind of polish do you have???? I have Silver laced polish and Golden laced polish... everyone keeps telling me that they wont be laying until spring of next year. Now you have me wondering if I should be looking for those eggs as well.

Send your eggs my way.........everyone wants them, we'll split the profits. I have 4 laying now. I can't keep up. I have 12-2week olds. I don't think I can push them that fast.

Have you tried to sell them? You may be surprised.

Another option is to donate extras to a food pantry or church.

I don't have enough hens (20) to supply just my friends, and they are willing to pay $3 a doz no problem! Very few people around here have chickens and a lot of people want healthy eggs to eat. The co-op has eggs at $4 a doz and they sell out every day.

Thank you everyone I think I will have to raise the price we actualy have the high omega-3 eggs. Their feed consists of

corn
soybean meal
flax seed
dried fish meal ( just a lil as if they get too much the eggs get a fishy taste)
dried sea kelp
olive oil
oats
and whatever they can get while free ranging

they are not cheap to feed

Windy, I have standard black with white crest, golden laced, buffed laced and silver laced. How old did they tell you when they would lay?

jackie

Not until next spring is what they told me. They said they lay the spring after they are hatched. Mine are now just about 23 weeks. Ummmm could you please set me straight?!?!?!

Hunny, I would!!! Have you priced them eggs at the store??? No, that chicken feed is not cheap especially when you average in the price of gas to get the feed. I think you are cheating yourself in my opinion.
