Too many males

You could try a bachelor pad where you keep your extras together out of sight and sound of the hens. That may or may not work, however.

You could try selling them or giving them away, but if someone takes them, they are likely to end up on the dinner table.

Good luck

Depends what type of quail u have. Bachelor groups work really well for cpqs but are hit n miss with Cortinux especially if u get an overly aggressive male.

We were thinking californian or button next. We hope to hatch around 1 male and around 4 females but you never know lol

If u want to play it safe go for buttons. Theyre not technically quails n are monogamous so u only need a ratio of 1:1 where as with calis u need a ration of 1:3. Buttons aren't particular about sex either they're happy choosing another male for company if there are no females available. I have a bachelor group of 5 males and they're very happy together, yet if I put a single female in with them they would fight. Xx

Heres one of my breeding groups a 1:1 ratio of Buttons. They're very happy together!

3 Boys :Max (silver red-breasted) Lev (Silver tux) and Robin (Double factor white winged pied)

3 Girls : Enzo (Normal Tux) Twiggy (Silver/slate pied) and LuLu (Darth)

Absolutely love your setups, your birds always look so happy.

You can hope, but be prepared for 5 males! May the almighty incubation odds be in your favour.

I have found bachelor pads to work well but if they can even hear females then it will go downhill fast.

Another plus with buttons ... u can keep a bachelor pad in sight n sound of girls n they won't fight unless a girl is in with them.

Here the top 2 tiers are my bachelors, the bottom tier has a single breeding pair. Plus the cage is next to a tank with 2 breeding pairs in so they can see the girls in there.
