Early fall I bought a flock of chickens. There were supposed to be 16 hens and 2 roosters. Some of the chickens were a little at the time but it turns out there were a lot more roosters then we thought.. Our chickens free range and we have lost quite a few over the winter and are at 8 hens and 3 roosters. I really am
Having a hard time at the thought of getting rid of any of them so I need suggestions. My husband said I can’t buy anymore because we have 30 eggs in the bater right now but they won’t be in the coop for a long time and who knows what they will be. What can I do with my 2 roosters in the meantime??

You may need to build a bachelor pad for them to be separated from the flock (you are right, a 3:8 ratio is too much for your girls). You will also, definitely, b e getting new cockerels with your hatch... You may want to consider rehoming the some. :) Best of luck to you and your flock - and sorry for your losses!

With chicks coming I would be getting rid of any extra rooster/s not wanted for future breeding's. Then I would pick 1 or 2 cockerel to let grow up from the chicks, all the rest get new homes or dumplings,,,

There are 3 ways to deal with excess males - give them away, eat them or put them in a bachelor pad. If you absolutely cannot do the first 2 options, then it's time for a bachelor pad.

Since you are hatching you might as well build a second run. If you have a good hatch you'll have another 15+/- cockerels to have to put somewhere until you figure out what to do with them. Here excess males go to the freezer.
