Too Many Viable Eggs... oh my!

Well... I thought I'd game nature and it seems nature decided to game me right back. I put in 60 eggs total to fill 44 spaces thinking at best I'd get maybe a 60-70% viability rate since I collected these eggs on cold days (near and under freezing). Some of them were honestly frozen feeling to the touch. Well lo and behold, I have 50 viable eggs, aka 85%- and not enough room. Thankfully I had a friend with an empty incubator, but appears that nature has it's own version of Chicken Math!

Next time candle them. Unless they're too dark, you'll be able to see the yolk floating around. That doesn't guara they're viable of course, but it's a clue at least.

Never tried candling before I set them. I've always heard you can't tell they are viable or not.

You can't tell if they ARE, but sometimes you can tell if they're not--like if the yolk isn't moving or there are nearly invisible cracks. Although in most cases if the yolk isn't moving, you won't have any trouble seeing the cracks.
