Too soon for brooder plate

I put newly hatched chicks from incubator to brooder with a brooder plate. One of the chicks was still a little moist. Later, I noticed the back/head feathers were singed. Learning curve, I now know. I feel so bad not keeping the chick in incubator longer. The chick seems okay. I raised the plate and added a heat lamp. An hour later, the feathers don't feel as rough and show slight fluffiness as in the pictures. Thankfully, the other chicks are not pecking at him/her.

My questions: Did I do permanent damage? Will the new feathers be affected in the future, as in damage to the folicle? Is ointment or medication be necessary?

Thank you in advance for your shared knowledge.

Sorry this happened. This is why I prefer a heat lamp personally. You will have to wait and see how it heals. A wound spray may help. You will have to wait to see how bad the skin is damaged as burns take a bit of time to reveal the damage. Thankfully chickens are good at healing, so I would be hopeful for a good recovery.

Thank you so much. Seems to be fluffing up a little more. She isn't extremely sensitive there, hard to tell because chicks are a little hypersensitive anyway, but I don't want to be touching that area too much. Thanks again.
