How soon is too soon to introduce fresh fruits and veggies veggie? I have no clue how old my little chicks are but I am assuming over 6 weeks since they have some feathers and 2 have tail feathers. Any advice is appreciated. New to chick raising.

I think by two weeks mine were doing watermelon bits and enjoying that when they were in season. They all survived the experience. If you are deviating from chick feed please do offer chick grit in the brooder.
Does it matter if they are not in a brooder? They are outside. We have sandy soil. I have read that with free range and/or sand, grit is not so much a necessity. They have already picked off some bugs on their own. Fluffy is the master bug chaser.(and she is the smallest and youngest looking)

Doesn't matter if not in a brooder and yes if they are outside they are eating grass anyway and obviously finding the grit as well.

Thank you. We will get some grit for them this weekend just in case. I don't want to see them get sick because I failed to provide things they need.
