Our chickens range from 5 to 8 weeks ago and have outgrown their brooder and then some. The brooder has been in the unheated garage and we haven't used a heat lamp for at least a week. We finally got our new coop delivered today and moved all of them into the coop but we are a little worried that it might be too cold tonight. It was in the low 60's today but it's supposed to get down to 36 tonight. Is that too cold for them at this age or should they be fine? It was that cold last night and they were in the unheated garage with no heat lamp last night but I am sure it's a little warmer in the garage then it is outside.

I think I may have posted this in the wrong section, moderators please move it if I did :)

They should be OK if they have a dry draft free place to huddle together. We give chicks heat in the brooder up to 6 weeks of age and then a week or two of additional heat if the coop if the temps drop below 45 deg. Then they are on their own and join the flock!
