I have given my three week olds a little egg and some oats I was wondering about a little scratch (keeping in mind that they will fill up and not get their shick starter nutrients).

It sees a little hard for them...even with grit. Whatcha think?

well.... most people will shun me for this... but my husband is mr.old fashion.... im not sure if in the 50's they had baby chick food.....

so my husband throws my 3 weeks old chicks scratch now and then. If your that worried, grind it up in the blender. i had to do that for 2 weeks for some chicks b/c i had no chick feed and no $$ for chick feed

I have to go by the feed store this weekend..I like your idea of grinding them up a bit.

Mostly I am just chomping at the bit to spoil the little darlins!

well i havent had any chicks die yet from it. so i must not be hurting them too bad.

i also put them outside in the grower coop when they learn to fly out of my brooder in the house
