Vet thought she has a fracture in her pad, treated her with some red light machine, 2 days later 1 of my pekings has the same thing going on.I checked the internet it said it's bacterial. I will clean everything with a bleach mixture today. does anyone have a idea of what I am talking about ? I will go back to the VET BUT THAT IS GETTING COSTLY . THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP PEOPLE sorry about cap lock [ugh]

It would help if you explained what the symptoms are.....I'm assuming lameness??
If there is no obvious cause, then at that age, particularly with two showing symptoms, Marek's disease would be top of my list of suspects. Do they look properly lame, as in, consciously favouring one foot to avoid weight bearing and pain in the other.... or uncoordinated like they have no feeling in the leg/foot or walking down on their hocks or toes curled or falling on their side and struggling to get up. The latter is indicative of it being a neurological problem rather than an injury.

Thank you for responding, the pad on right foot is swollen and they are lame trying to keep all weight off that foot, the peking got worse faster, his whole ankle? swelled up in a day.WH doesn't seem to be in as pain much as larger duck. I have a call to the vet there are no cuts leg felt warm. sorry about pics kinda hard to get

internet says bacterial

Was trying to figure out what type of hen a WH was and now realise it's a Welsh Harlequin duck since you now mention ducks.... I'm not a duck keeper, so didn't twig, because here in the UK Pekins are bantam cochins, so I was thinking hens not ducks....which completely moves the goal posts since ducks don't get Marek's.
I will bow out of the thread as I have very little knowledge of ducks, but just goes to show how easy it is to misunderstand!
Good luck sorting your problem.

@ducksrgreat

Photos will be most helpful:)

I'm wondering if you are meaning that your ducks have Bumblefoot? This is a Staph infection (bacterial) that affects the foot, can cause swelling and most of the time has scabs on the bottom of the foot.

Look at the photos in these links - is this what you are talking about?

thank you yes I believe it is bumblefoot since I have 2 ducks now lame the peking is bad he wont walk hardly at all. I will take him to the vet tomorrow thank you again for your time, I don't see any scabs just swollen pads. I sent your information to my vet.
