In NJ we had so many trees around that there was always plenty of shade for the girls. In Utah it's the exact opposite and that summer sun that beats down is relentless. I had the water under there so it wouldn't be like drinking hot coffee.
Love it! I have the same problem in Louisiana on those hot summer days. The water can reach temps of scalding you, so I have to put the waterers under the trees and find other creative ways to keep the water cool. That's why I'm trying to design the little huts so I don't have to move the waterers and so that the feed doesn't get wet when it rains . Right now, I move the feeders when the weather forecast calls for rain. With the little huts, I won't have to move the feeders.
What are the measurements of yours? How tall and wide?
I love them.
