Took three days vacation....came back, no eggs!

I don't trust anyone to do as good a job as I do.....
I have a PCV feeder (you will not believe how easy it is to make until you make it) and lots of waterers. (sp?)
I have a trip planned for May and dread leaving. I have a good neighbour that will check on the girls, but I am still setting up as if no one will do anything for 7 days.

And this is why I hire an animal caretaker whenever I leave for more than 24 hours. Your hens may rebound rapidly, or they may go into a molt, or they may shut down until spring. I'm hoping that the first option is the one that they choose.

Like others I prefer to leave the flock with enough food and water to last. For a long weekend I certainly have enough food and water. Two weeks, they go onto an automatic watering system (summer). I have a sitter check in once or twice. Egg production usually drops but doesn't disappear.

Be prepared for a BIG chickie greeting, followed by a thorough cussing out in chicken lingo.
