My banty hens beaks are really long. When I had chickens many years ago, we never had to trim their beaks. I've never seen a beak at long as my banties though! It's their upper beak. How do I trim it? Clippers or file?

That's all I needed to know. Thanks!

What can I do to prevent their beaks from getting so long in the future?

You could also use a dremmel tool, my vet did for my chicken with a crossed beak. But when I had to trim the beak of a hen that escaped into my yard, I used nail clippers to trim her beak. Since then she mostly keeps it trim herself by rubbing her beak on the ground or on stones. But maybe her beak grows too fast, because I have to trim it once in a while.
