I received the safeguard order...
Suspension 10% 100 mg/ml

For my two dogs...7 & 25 lbs....how much do I give if the dosing is
50 mg/kg po for 3 consecutive days?

.23 ml per lb.......do I half that because I have 100 mg/ml?


What do I give to the chickens? I have 7 hens, 1 rooster.

This is the the formula that I use:

Weight of animal in pounds, divide by 2.2 (that converts to kg), times desired number of mg per kg (in this case it's 50mg/kg), divide by number of mg per one ml (with Safeguard it's 100/ml). So the formula for your dogs looks like this:
7 ÷ 2.2 x 50 ÷ 100 = 1.59ml (round up to 1.6ml)
25 ÷ 2.2 x 50 ÷ 100 = 5.68ml (round up to 5.7ml)

A five pound chicken:
5 ÷ 2.2 x 50 ÷ 100 = 1.14
A one pound chicken:
1 ÷ 2.2 x 50 ÷ 100 = 0.227 (round up to 0.23ml)

This albendazole is 100mg/ml


but this one is 113.6 mg/ml

Knowing that formula means that anyone should be able to calculate a dose for any size bird if they know the proper mg/kg to give, and with albendazole, it's 20mg/kg for most worms.

Liquid Ivermectin.

The dose for the 1% injectable (10mg/ml) is 0.2mg/kg
The dose for the 0.05% pour on (5mg/ml) is 0.5mg/kg

Of course ivermectin at that dose is unlikely to treat any worms in poultry, but for those that want to use it, those are the recommended amounts.

I mixed 1.8 ml with mashed potatoes and made sure each chicken got approx the same amount.
It seems like such a small amount of medication!
How long do I have to discard the eggs for?

No, I misread what you said and gave them the dose for one lb each. I will need to remedicate with 9.12ml total. Good thing I checked! It seemed like such a small dose for 8 birds! Thanks again!
How long do I need to discard the eggs for?
