Chickens do eat some eatable leaves, like young grapevine leaves. They don’t eat young oak sprouts
to my knowledge bc if we dont mow the grass for a couple of weeks, there are always tiny oaks in our lawn.

They wont eat autumn leaves if they have acces to other food. Im not familiar with geese.
I love thisMy girls love chopped-up leaves (chopped by the lawn mower) in their run for days when it's too rainy to get out in the yard.
One thought: don't use leaves that have been raked up from the street gutters along your road! They are generally contaminated with petrochemicals from vehicle traffic, and they really shouldn't be added to either your chicken runs or your compost heap. Instead, use leaves raked from yards that haven't been exposed to herbicides and other pesticides.
I often mooch them from my neighbors, who have bagged them up and put them by the curb for city pickup. I can return their leaf bags in five minutes, which seems to make them absurdly pleased!
Dried Oak leaves are the best. If I'm not mistaken, they are the toughest withstanding leaves, around here anyway. Bag em and Lot of em! Lucky Duck
ok thanks, we get THOUSANDS. there are still last years and its basically summer where i live!they last about 1 and 1/2 years here
