HI,
I've read a few treads on treating a injured hen. I've a injured hen, the back end is featherless and looks badly chewed up. She is still eating and is pacing the fence wanting to be with the other hens. How to clean and dress it?
What is a saline solution? salt and water? what ration?
What is Blue cote?
Is Alu-spray ok to spray the hen? I use that for horses and goats.
I have human tripple antibiotic ointment. Is that ok to spread on it? This is an egg layer not an eating hen.

Thank you for your help.

I've rinsed her off with antibiotic soap and warm water , damped dried, then spread triple antibiotic ointment.
She's in the low-lighted family room with the potbelly warming the room ;-)
There wasn't any fresh blood rinsing off, but it sure smelled different and looks horrible.

UGH, at 4am a coyote tried to kill my pygmy goat. Didn't succeed, no really threating puncture wounds, just stress. Poor guy. He too is in my family room! I had the vet come out for good measure and antibiotic shots.

I hope tonight we all sleep well!

Thanks again,
Monica
