We decided to just add a medium run. We weren't going to as previously they've always just come and gone on their own but I'd like the coop they're in now to be a grow out coop once the walk in is done. Kills two birds with one stone.

Regarding the OP's feral cat issue, trust me they will kill a full grown hen. I lost my favorite Buff Orpington hen to one last September.

I'm so sorry! Yeah, it stinks but that's exactly what I'm aiming to prevent! I'm more concerned about the wandering cats in my area then just about anything else!
