You're welcome. We'll be able to help you identify your breeds (or hybrids) when we see your pics. A brown egg layer x a blue egg layer will give you a green egg of some shade, depending on the hue of the brown eggs of your brown egg layer. For Olive Eggers you need the really dark brown (chocolate) egg layers (such as Marans, Welsummers, Barnevelders, Penedesencas, etc.) crossed with the blue egg layers (Ameraucanas, Araucanas, etc.). If you do in fact have some Red and Black Sex Links, you should get loads of eggs from them as they are egg laying machines. I've raised sex links for years and they have been my best layers, consistently churning out more than 300 eggs per hen per year. I'm looking forward to seeing your pics. Good luck with your flock. Thanks all!
As far as the breeds I have, according to crazy lady, I had ( and mind you, she told me I had five chickens, when there were in fact six chickens) a Buff Orp, three Ameraucana-BR mixes (two solid black and one splash) and a Yellow Comet sex link. There are a lot of things wrong with those suggestions. For example, the girl she said was a Buff Orp is very red, and not very Orpington-like at all, which leads me to believe she's likely a red sex-link. I asked twice about her coloring and shape and she was certain she was the Buff Orp... Okay. The Ameraucana thing makes me laugh pretty hard because I'm getting exclusively brown eggs, and if I'm correct, which I could be wrong, the mix of a brown egg layer with a blue egg layer usually ends up with olive eggers, right? I don't know. Either way, I have three black girls that are likely black sex links with a weird black and white splash-colored one. No idea what her deal is. I'll have to post pictures of her because she's peculiar-looking. Then there's the last one that, for all I know, may be the yellow comet thing, but she could be a Buff Orp. She sure looks like one from the pictures of the common ones I've seen.
