The islands are pictured in the CNN article. Their drinking water is de-salinated using oil. Everything is run on oil, when they could run a lot of it on solar. I also read that they are having dead stop traffic jams because autos are the only way you can get around town.
Personally I think it is silly to ski inside a building. I would get bored real fast.
