Touching a broody hens babbies!

Actually most song birds will not reject the babies. There is an old wives tale that they can smell the human on them and reject them. Most birds have a very poor sense of smell and rely on their eyesight. I used to do wildlife rescue. Song birds were my specialty. People always use, "my kid picked up the baby bird, so I have to raise it" excuse. It's best to just put them back where you found them. BTW most wild mammals are also smart enough to recognize and care for their offspring even after a human has touched them.
