We meet a breeder at a chicken swap and he is offering us a young breeding pair (Gender verified by DNA test) for $80. Not sure if this is a good prize. Still looking into the breed to make sure it is the right one for us.
We like duck meat and are hoping to it is a dual purpose breed with occasional eggs and low maintenance breed.

Do you have any recommendations of websites to look up the breed?
Is it a good prize for a breeding pair?

Metzer Farms is the go-to gosling hatchery. They have many, many goose breeds, Toulouse included.

You can see their pricing on their website, their descriptions of the breeds, and they have a great goose breed comparison chart.

Personally, I think it’s a fine price.
Geese, in general, don’t produce many eggs, although the eggs they do produce are quite large. I’d consider them somewhat low-maintenance, as they graze on grass for most of their feed, and they raise their young extremely well. They’ll still need the protection of a coop, of course.
