Toys for birds?

Hello!

I was wondering if chickens liked any sort of toys, I don't have much experience with chickens yet (getting five day old red sexlinks early august!!) and have a pretty smart grackle I'm rehabilitating who is very active and it got me thinking of making toys for him and eventually the chickens if they were into that sort of thing

Does anybody have any experience with their chickens liking to peck certain things or materials or roll around little balls like some other birds do? I was thinking of making a little feed ball where they peck it around to make food gradually drop out

Hello & welcome!

The feed ball is a great idea! Some people use soda bottles with holes punched in it, then fill with seed and watch the birds kick it around! Chickens do like things that are fun. Cabbage tetherball is always good. Drill a hole thru' a cabbage, hang it at about head/beak level and watch them play! Several other sites have good ideas for interactive toys that you can make for your birds. Enjoy!
