Tracking eggs and vent dyeing

I’m going to start tracking my hens egg laying this year because some are 3-4 years old and want to cull any not up to par. Some I know who’s eggs they are like blue, green and white. But I have a good amount of brown/pinkish layers. I know I can dye their vents. How do I do this? How far in do I put the dye? When googling all I got was stuff about dying chickens and vent glee.

If you are able to monitor your flock constantly you could try trap-nesting.

If you go this route you have to check the nests very frequently, especially in hot weather.

Curious, I did a key word search looking for the video. I'm usually pretty good at finding and linking things. Not this time.
