Male MMM/Silkie hybrid, shares the exact same parents with Yara. Hatched September 4th, 7 weeks old in the picture. Not sure if I'll be keeping him long term, but I'm very interested to see how he'll grow! I'll refer to him as "Captain".
Captain's got a necklace of yellow feathers and his face is turning red, unlike his sister's, but that was somewhat obvious from Captain's introduction pictures. It didn't show up too well in the pics below, but the feathers are indeed yellow
Easter chick! New silkie hybrid, hatched by my Polish around 1pm today
Five toed, strong leg feathering. Possible mothers are Salmon Faverolle, Buff Orpington, and Black Star. Father is likely my black Silkie
Hatched April 18th. Salmon Faverolle + black Silkie Bantam, 5 toed and walnut combed. They have a beard and muffs just like both parents. This chick was the last to hatch from my Polish's clutch and I didn't think they would survive. Long story short: not long after they piped their Polish mom did the "broody shuffle" on top of them.
Wouldn't have been a problem if they weren't already piped, the compromised shell was crushed and there was bleeding. I put the chick under my broody Silkie that happily accepted and kept them safe and warm until they hatched. When they finished absorbing their blood vessels, they needed help out of the rubbery membrane. I'm certainly glad they survived! This little cutie just turned 2 weeks old.
