That's an odd one for sure. I think waiting until it's fully feathered out will give us a better idea.

No.Do all eggers have muffs or tufts?
Cuties. Will be interesting to watch them grow and hopefully resolve the mystery. So I got 20 chicks from TSC selling for $1. They said they were all silver laced wyandotte. After getting them home I saw there were actually a few different breeds mixed together. I have been able to identify all but the 5 that look like this chick pictured. Has the black/grey chipmunk stripe on back. Yellow head with black spots and yellow underside. Feathering is mostly black with white spots so far. Legs are a dark color: black, grey, or slate. I've done a lot of searching and cannot get close to a match.
This tractor supply was terrible. I also bought "unknown" chicks. They were different, something I've never seen before, so I got a few. Turns out they were different because they were guinea fowl keets (french pearl). They are cute, but I don't think my neighbors will tolerate the noise. Ugh!
So these are the pictures of my unknown chicks from tractor supply. View attachment 2773168View attachment 2773169View attachment 2773170View attachment 2773171View attachment 2773172
I don't know what muffs and tufts are, but I have two EEs but only one has a beard and is fluffy underneath. Is that an M&M? Otherwise their coloring and patterns are quite similar. Green legs are a bit freaky. Had never seen them before, lol, but I love them.
Mine, Tucson, in May were on 50% off so I think I paid $2.50 ea. Last time I went in they had chicks galore but sign said they were all sold.Mines been selling chicks for .50
M&M? Where I'm from that's a candy coated chocolate candy.I don't know what muffs and tufts are, but I have two EEs but only one has a beard and is fluffy underneath. Is that an M&M? Gotcha, the head and face of one of mine, Pebbles is like that.Muffs are when they have the fluffy cheeks.
Photo of my ameraucana/silkie cross which is also technically an Easter Egger!
She has muffs and a beard.
She also has a crest which traditionally Easter Eggars do not have, but the newer ones based on cream legbars do.View attachment 2773337
I was to lazy to type out muffs and tufts and auto correct took over, lol. I do love M&Ms though and would be perfectly fine if they laid those rather than eggs.M&M? Where I'm from that's a candy coated chocolate candy.
EE's can and do come in many different colors, patterns, comb types, etc. They have zero standards and are quite often bred EE x EE. That means a mix of mixes. They're a genetic grab bag. The only sure thing is that somewhere in their background was a blue egg layer.
